Sustainable Fellwood is a 27-acre site located on Bay Street, just west of Savannah’s Historic District and the site of Savannah’s and Georgia’s first housing project. Sustainable Fellwood today is envisioned as a new mixed-use community development with Affordable Housing, Senior Housing Units, single family homes, and future retail space. Amenities will include a clubhouse, an organic community garden, a common green space for recreation, playgrounds, and walking paths.
Sustainable Fellwood is registered in the pilot program of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Neighborhood Development pilot program, and is pursuing Southface Energy Institute’s EarthCraft Community certification.
Sustainable Fellwood envisions creating a powerful positive social impact on the community through job training and creation and through the development of attractive affordable housing stock, while minimizing its impact on the environment. The design maximizes green surfaces and will implement technologies to reduce stormwater runoff. Water usage will be minimized through native and xeriscape landscaping outside and low-flow fixtures inside. Energy costs will be reduced by maximizing natural day lighting with thermally-efficient windows and exteriors, highly-reflective roofs, and EnergyStar appliances throughout.

Sustainable Fellwood is an urban infill, affordable housing community including space for gardens, playgrounds and mixed use.
