EarthCraft Piedmont Communities Program

The EarthCraft Piedmont Communities guidelines are the product of unprecedented collaboration among the region’s leading developers, planners, designers, and environmental advocates. Over the course of two years, more than 30 professionals attended charettes and meetings, commented on drafts, and responded to enquiries to determine these best practices. Among these professionals, five developers submitted their projects for certification as pilot projects, demonstrating that “sustainable” can also be profitable. These five communities-Glenwood Park, Serenbe, Clark’s Grove, Vickery and Longleaf- represented a diversity of development models in north and middle Georgia. Since these initial pilot communities, the program continues to expand across the south east.
